Release date for iOS 26
On Tuesday (9), Apple announced the release date for the new update to its operating system, iOS 26, which will take place on September 15.
The intention of the new design is to provide a more expressive and enjoyable experience, while maintaining the visual identity that users are familiar with. iOS 26 also features new features in CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, and Wallet, as well as a new app, Apple Games.
Among the new features are those that will use the company’s artificial intelligence, Apple Intelligence. One of them is the integration of simultaneous translation in the Messages, FaceTime, and Phone apps — which converts language into audio and text.
The new AI tools also include the ability to automatically identify and summarize order tracking details that arrive by email, making this information available to the user in a simplified way.
The weather widget was one of the visual updates in iOS 26, which will adapt to the available space in the background photo — which will gain a 3D effect when the user moves.
Camera changes
The device camera will have a simplified layout, and the browser app will have web pages occupying the top and bottom edges of the screen.
Changes to the Phone app
The Phone app will have a unified layout that combines favorites, recent calls, and voicemails into a single tab and will display caller information to provide users with the details they need to decide whether to answer or ignore the call.
Changes to CarPlay
CarPlay, Apple’s system that allows you to integrate your iPhone with the multimedia panel of compatible cars, will have design updates, making it more compact and also displaying detailed information about voice calls.
Updates to Apple Music
New features in Apple Music include song lyrics translations and pronunciation guidance for words in other languages. In addition, a mixing tool will allow users to transition from one song to another like a DJ.
Updates to Apple Maps
Finally, Apple Maps will remember places you have already visited, and Wallet will give you rewards when you make purchases in physical stores with Apple Pay using your iPhone.
